Name: Siân Landau
Location: Archway, North London
Occupation: Artist and Gallery Assistant
I’m an artist and graduated from Slade School of Fine Art in 2013 and now I work in an art gallery in West London. I spend my days protecting artworks and talking to visitors about the artist’s ideas, but when I’m not working, I spend time in my studio in Stratford creating paintings and sculptures. Even when I’m chilling at home, I’ve still got my creative head on – I like to make myself a pot of vanilla tea and curl up on the sofa with a knitting project in my hands.
London Review Bookshop, 14 Bury Place, WC1A 2JL
Just opposite the British Museum is a literary gem with a fantastic selection of fiction and non-fiction to quench your thirst for knowledge. What makes this place my highlight lies hidden between the book cases – a tea and cake shop! It’s got a big selection of delicious things, making it the perfect place to start reading that new book!
The Cheek Of It! Burlesque drop in session @ Pineapple Dance Studios
Every Wednesday evening something saucy is happening on the top floor of Pineapple. With the help of the gorgeous Lady Cheek, learn to unlock your inner showgirl with a shimmy and a giggle. Take your friends for guaranteed fun, but be careful, you’ll be sure to catch the burlesque bug! 7-8pm £8 members/£12 non members.
Secret Place – CellarDoor Club, opposite the Lyceum Theatre, Holborn
A fairly recent discovery for me, down a small staircase outside the Lyceum showing The Lion King, lies a dark den of deadly cocktails. What used to be men’s public toilets is now a decadent hot spot for hilarious, satirical cabaret and a killer Martini. While you’re there, make sure you use the loo – if you can find it – the door will amaze you!
