Hermione Granger definitely knows how to fight against a patriarchy but now Harry Potter actress, Emma Watson, is taking on a role at the UN to do the same. Watson has been appointed a UN Women’s Goodwill Ambassador for promoting gender equality and the empowerment of women.

Watson will be working as an ambassador but also as a part of the HeForShe campaign which encourages men to stand up women’s rights.
Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, Under-Secretary-General and Executive Director at UN Women, says of Watson’s appointment, “We are thrilled and honoured to work with Emma, whom we believe embodies the values of UN Women.”
