Lights, camera, action — LA Pride is here!
With more than a 50-year legacy of Pride celebrations, Los Angeles shines extra bright this time of year. Here are some of the places in LA where you can support the LGBTQ+ community this Pride Month.
Originally established in 1987 as a grassroots service organization, the Asian Pacific AIDS Intervention Team continues to do work to support the LGBTQ+ community today.
APAIT will celebrate Pride 2021 with a resource fair on June 4 at 11 a.m.
There will be games and refreshments, plus HIV and STI testing, mental health resources, support groups, and two drag performances.
Those who fill their Pride Passport with stamps from each booth will be entered to win prizes from the Pleasure Chest.
The LA Memorial Coliseum will host Outloud: Raising Voices in collaboration with Pride Live’s Stonewall Day starting June 4.
In this three-day concert series, queer artists such as Hayley Kiyoko, Adam Lambert, and Kim Petras will perform live to raise funds for queer organizations and charities.
If you can’t make the show, you can still enjoy the performances streamed exclusively through Twitch.
The Los Angeles Dodgers and Texas Rangers will face off for the eighth annual LGBTQ+ Pride Night on June 11.
The night is a collaboration from queer organizations such as LA Pride, Outsports, Varsity Gay League, and the Greater Los Angeles Softball Association.
The game starts at 7:10 p.m. with drink specials, commemorative Dodgers Pride T-shirts, and a recognition of LGBTQ+ first responders from Los Angeles planned.
Special guests are planned for the pregame festivities.
June 11 will feature A Proud Queer Moment with live music, drag queen performances, and LGBTQ+ vendors.
The next day, the venue will host a Pride 2021 party for Black queer and trans folks starting at 3 p.m.
Throwback hip-hop, R&B, and soul music will play all day long, curated by DJ Kidd. Since his Reunion parties in San Francisco were a hit, this is the first Reunion LA event with more planned for the future.
And on the 18th, celebrate the launch of Captura, a queer-trans youth magazine.
For queer folks and allies who are interested in kink, this one’s for you.
Starting at 8 p.m. on June 12, this PRIDE! Munch will offer space to meet and chat with other kinky queer people over food and drinks.
You must bring proof of your vaccination to the event, but social distancing and mask-wearing will still be encouraged.
Dress code is kink casual, and those requesting accessibility accommodations are encouraged to reach out to the event organizers.
Affectionately named the gayest beach in LA, Will Rogers will host a special Pride event for the sober community.
The Big Gay Beach Games Day is sponsored by The Phoenix, a nonprofit dedicated to promoting healthy lifestyles without the use of substances.
The event organizers ask that everyone who attends be sober for 48 hours, and they request attendees wear a mask.
The event starts at 12:30 p.m. on June 20 at Lifeguard Tower 18, though space is limited so be sure to register ahead of time.
Equality Armenia’s first-ever Hye Pride event will take place starting at 8 p.m. on June 26.
There will be a virtual and in-person portion of the event celebrating the Armenian LGBTQ+ community and allies.
Both portions of the event will offer drag performances, music, comedy, and dance, with keynote speakers from the community.
The in-person soirée will take place at a private residence in Hollywood Hills, though you can watch a stream of the event via social media if you’re unable to attend.
The Los Angeles LGBT Center will host a Pride Picnic on June 27.
This outdoor event will benefit the Center’s programs and services, which include HIV and STD testing and housing services.
DJ Asha will set the tone of the evening, with several performances by drag stars.
If you want a bite to eat or a specialty cocktail, local vendors will be set up at the picnic, along with sponsors giving away free Pride merchandise. BYOBlanket, chairs, and snacks.
Akbar is a staple of LA’s queer community, proven by their December fundraiser to stay open through COVID, in which they raised over $150,000 in one day.
The bar’s line-up of Pride Month events won’t disappoint: June 6, 12, 13, and 14 will see queer parties celebrating LA Pride, complete with guest DJs and special guest performances.
On June 12, they will also sponsor a Tutus ‘N Heels walk supporting the LGBTQ+ youth of Camp Brave Trails, starting from Akbar at 10 a.m.
Take a self-guided walking tour of queer architect John Woolf’s most esteemed work.
A prominent figure in developing the Hollywood Regency architectural style, Woolf collaborated with life partner Robert Koch on many projects.
The tour, supported by the City’s One City One Pride LGBTQ Arts Festival, begins at a house Woolf designed for actress Loretta Young, and it culminates at the Pendleton House in Beverly Hills.
