27 must-see bisexual movies: find the best bi films to stream on Hulu, Netflix, and more

Bisexuality is more visible on screen than ever before, so it’s high time we highlight the best bisexual movies you can find on streaming platforms. After all, what better way to Netflix and chill with your HER date than with these movies featuring bisexual characters? So before you spend hours deciding on what to watch together, look no further for a list of bisexual movies to watch on Netflix, Hulu, Apple TV, and more.

Bisexual representation still has a long way to go, especially in movies. Unfortunately, many films fall prey to stereotyping when they feature bisexual characters.

Some of the films we highlight do a better job than others in portraying bisexuality without contributing to biphobic tropes, and we’re definitely a fan of movies that make an active effort to crush biphobia. So keep that in mind as you dive into these titles!

Before sharing our list, it’s worth actually giving a definition of what we mean by bi movies. What are the criteria, considering the goal of authentic, nuanced conversations about bisexuality?

This list of bisexual movies consists of:

  • Movies that have been confirmed bisexual characters (in the film itself or by cast or crew outside the movie itself).
  • Movies with bisexual characters that have not been confirmed in the film or by cast/crew but are bisexual in their original iteration. An example of this could be a comic book character who is canonically bisexual in the comics but may have experienced bi-erasure in its film adaptation.
  • Movies with characters that have not been explicitly stated as bisexual (maybe they’re “unlabeled” but fit the definition of bisexual.)
  • Movies that only hint at bisexuality or have bisexual undertones – and because of that, in search for representation, LGBT+ fans have bestowed the bisexual label on the character.

Without further ado, here are 27 bisexual movies to watch on Netflix, Hulu, and beyond!

Drama films featuring bisexual characters

LGBT+ movies are very dramatic a lot of the time, whether it’s because it’s a coming-out story, internal conflict, or external conflict. Sometimes the drama has nothing to do with sexuality at all – which is a breath of fresh air! Scroll for some iconic bi drama films that have all kinds of conflict.

Disobedience (2017)

Disobedience follows the story of a bisexual woman (Rachel Weisz) who returns to her Orthodox Jewish community and rekindles a relationship with her childhood friend (Rachel McAdams). Together, they navigate the judging eyes of family and community members.

Available to stream on Netflix.

Interview with the Vampire: The Vampire Chronicles (1994)

Vampire movies are pretty much a genre in their own right. But one thing vampire movies know how to do is drama. This film, starring Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise, is based on the novel by Anne Rice, which tells the story of a vampire, Louis de Pointe du Lac, who recounts his life to a mortal reporter.

Opposite Louis is Lestat de Lioncourt, the histrionic vampire who is also bisexual in all senses of the word in the original novels, but the movie only hints at the homoerotic nature of the two main characters. You’re in luck, though, because the 2022 TV reboot series Interview with the Vampire on AMC is a lot less shy about showing the real queer nature of the story – and is also a blast to watch.

Interview with the Vampire: The Vampire Chronicles, the 1994 film, is available to stream on Amazon Prime Video.

Moonlight (2016)

Moonlight chronicles the life of Chiron from childhood to adulthood and how he comes to navigate his life as a gay Black man. Kevin, his love interest, is a key character throughout the movie and becomes someone Chiron can confide in enough to fall in love. Though it’s never stated explicitly in the film, many fans have speculated that Kevin is bisexual. It’s a beautiful film that shows the power of support, mentorship, and love.

Available on Amazon Prime Video.

Margarita with a Straw (2014)

This is an Indian coming-of-age film about Laila, a bisexual teenager with cerebral palsy who transfers from Delhi University in India to New York University in the United States. She then explores love and independence in ways she was never able to before. This movie will be speaking to your inner adventurous teenage self, with rom-com aspects and hard-hitting realities of love and life.

Margarita with a Straw is available to stream on Netflix.

Passages (2023)

Adèle Exarchopoulos (Blue is the Warmest Color) returns to LGBT+ film storytelling in a bisexual love triangle portrayed in 2023’s Passages. CRUSH (2021)

One of the funniest bisexual movies on Hulu is the Hulu Original CRUSH, which stars Rowan Blanchard as the chaotic lesbian protagonist who struggles to make a move on her crush. But life has other plans as she starts to turn her head in a classic enemies-to-lovers storyline. CRUSH also stars Auli’i Cravalho, (AKA Princess Moana), the 21-year-old bisexual Hawaiian actress, who has confirmed that her character in the movie is also bisexual

Kissing Jessica Stein (2001)

Tully (2018)

Charlize Theron plays an overworked mother of three, including a newborn baby, who happens to be bisexual and embarks on a complicated and heartwarming relationship with her night nurse, Tully, in this comedy-drama. It’s a down-to-earth and charming look into a woman who just needs a break

The film’s comedic timing and tone is reminiscent of Juno, which is no surprise since it comes from the same director and screenwriter, Jason Reitman and Diablo Cody, respectively. It also stars MacKenzie Davis, who plays Tully and has been a bi fave since the “San Junipero” episode from Black Mirror, so why not see her work in this film?

Available to stream on Netflix.

What if you had one last chance to fulfill your high school bucket list before graduating? That’s the adventure on which two straight A-students embark in this quirky and clever coming-of-age film that features a lesbian protagonist and features her crush on what many fans have claimed as a bisexual secondary character, Ryan.

This film is available to watch on Amazon Prime Video.

Jennifer’s Body (2009)

We’d be remiss not to mention the cult classic Jennifer’s Body, starring bisexual icon Megan Fox opposite Amanda Seyfried. It’s hilarious, sexy, and biconic, all-in-one. Even your “I don’t do horror” friend will appreciate the camp.

Jennifer’s Body is available to watch on Hulu.

Kaboom (2011)

Kaboom is a science-fiction comedy-drama that looks into the life of Smith, a sexually “undeclared” film student who, along with other characters, gets involved with a mysterious cult.

Rami Malek makes an amazing performance as Freddie Mercury, the iconic lead singer of the British rock band Queen. The movie takes creative liberties with the actual timeline of Mercury’s life and tragic death but is clear in showing Mercury’s bisexuality and his larger-than-life personality.

Available on Amazon Prime Video

Colette (2018)

It was only a matter of time before lesbian and bisexual fan favorite Kiera Knightley starred in an LGBT+ film of her own. In this 2018 film, Knightley plays the early 20th-century French novelist and bisexual Sidonie-Gabrielle Colette, who faces challenges and growth in her writing career and personal relationships.

Colette is available to stream on Netflix and Apple TV.

Kinsey (2004)

The Kinsey scale evolved from one of the first scientific pieces of research by sexologist Alfred Kinsey that explored the spectrum of human sexuality. This film shares the life of the scientist and bisexual, played by Liam Neeson, who studied human sexual behavior in men in the 1940s and 1950s.

Atomic Blonde (2017)

Not just visually appealing for using bisexual lighting, Atomic Blonde is also an action-packed thriller about a bisexual spy, played by Charlize Theron, who is given a challenging assignment to find double agents. And in case you’re wondering what bisexual lighting is, it’s basically when a film or visual medium uses blue and violet lighting – basically the bisexual flag colors

Available to stream on Amazon Prime Video.

Thor: Love and Thunder (2022)

This chapter of Thor follows the God of Thunder on a mission of self-actualization and, of course, saving the world, which includes fan favorite bisexual hero, Valkyrie.

Valkyrie has made an appearance in other Marvel movies, but Love in Thunder actually nods to her bisexuality, however brief. It helps that Tessa Thompson is queer herself.

Available to stream on Disney+.

The Amazing Spider-Man (2012)

Hang on tight because we’re swinging from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but….basically staying in Marvel.

Okay, Spider-Man has never been confirmed as bisexual in any iteration. But fans and the Amazing Spider-Man himself have asked the question, “why can’t Spider-Man be bisexual?” Andrew Garfield asked this question in a since-removed interview with Entertainment Weekly, but the internet is forever, and we’re still talking about the interview years later

I like to rewatch The Amazing SpiderMan knowing that Garfield is an ally to the bis, even after the fallout of the interview. Sometimes, you take whatever you can get, which shows how much further bi representation has to tread on the big screen.

Available to stream on Amazon Prime Video and Apple TV.

Scott Pilgrim vs. the World (2010)

Michael Cera and Mary Elizabeth Winstead star in this action-comedy film about a young man who must fight the seven evil exes of his bisexual girlfriend. Does he have what it takes to take on all seven?

This science fiction film explores several storylines and the relationship between the past, present, the future. One of the storylines follows Robert Frobisher, a tragic bisexual composer who writes letters to his lover.

Available to stream on Netflix and Apple TV.
