Manchester was pretty amazing at Pride 2013, so we’ve decided to dedicate our Dattch Top 5 to Manchester’s finest dining establishments. These picks are great for some really good eats and, if you bring along a date, you’ll definitely impress her with your knowledge of fun places for fantastic food.
If you didn’t know about some of these places before now, you’re welcome. If you did know about them and have been enjoying their food for years, well, great minds think alike.
This week: To Manchester! To the North!
Luck, Lust, Liquor & Burn – It’s probably not usual to describe food as ‘badass’ but there’s not another word that comes close to describing this Mexican-American paradise. With a delicious breakfast menu and a regular menu, you can get fantastic burritos, tacos, burgers and chillis all damn day. *Wipes saliva from keyboard*
SoLita – Those with vegetarian dates would do well to avoid SoLita for fear that the amazing aromas from the kitchen will have them back on the bacon as soon as they walk through the door. Also, if you’re even contemplating a diet, you might want to skip the venue that serves a pulled-pork sundae for a main and deep fried coke and ice cream for dessert.
Artisan – ‘Cooking goes back to basics in the fire, with pizzas, meat and fish it is casual dining at its best. Think artist’s loft studio meets concrete warehouse: stripped back and raw.’ This massive space has mixed an industrial vibe with a cool, artsy decor and the varied menu is as gorgeous as the art that’s also for sale here.
Teacup on Thomas St. – Let this delightful teashop warm the cockles of your heart with their fish finger sandwiches, sausage rolls and cream tea selections. Proper comfort food and sweet English tea time treats will leave you and your date feeling all warm and snuggly.
Koffee Pot – If you go for an early breakfast at The Koffee Pot, you’ll find the locals using it to cure their hangovers as it’s become famous for helping to soak up the previous night’s indiscretions with it’s no frills food. Fancy a down and dirty fry up? Slide into a booth and ease into your day with a mug of builder’s tea.
