It’s awards season in the LGBT Community, and there are a range of opportunities to celebrate what and who makes being a lesbian great. Whilst not all offer public voting, many do. Some awards are lesbian/bi women specific. With categories From DJ of the year to Dating Service to Brand of the year, lesbians can nominate, vote, support their heroes, friends and the women and companies behind what makes a thriving scene, social and community for us all.

Ultimate Planet  Awards – Launched in 2013, these awards are deeply rooted in the community. Unlike many of the other awards available, these are grass roots. What makes these awards different is that they welcome input from the community and they celebrate Lesbian and Bi women specifically. Lesbians can nominate anyone for a variety of awards and then vote for the final shortlisted awards. The organisers have spent some time coming up with award categories that aims to appreciate and acknowledge lesbians within the community.

My Lesbian Radio Golden Kitty Awards – Early 2014 will see the 6th Annual Kitty Awards reviewing 2013… Denise & Donna announce their picks for all sorts of categories, Best and Worst of the year in keeping with the format of their show. These awards had a humble beginning when Denise picked up the discarded show lists from 2006 one evening and realised how much goodness there had been. And that it needed celebrating.

National Diversity Awards –  Since 2006, the National Diversity Awards have been promoting diversity across the UK. Nominations and voting takes place from January to September. There is a ceremony in September each year where the winners are announced. The National Diversity Awards are for everyday people that perform miracles everyday in their communities and include all diversity categories including LGBT.
