If you’ve heard of Nik Kacy, then you have to have heard of Equality Fashion Week in Los Angeles. Let’s break down each for you, and then we will put the connection together at the end.
Nik Kacy is the founder and creator of Nik Kacy’s Luxury Quality Footwear, providing gender neutral shoes and accessories for the community. As an activist and designer, Kacy is able to take their creativity to encompass the LGBTQ+ community and instill confidence in people. By providing a space that people can outwardly express themselves, in apparel that represents who they are, was a key factor in Kacy starting the first ever Equality Fashion Week.
Equality Fashion Week is an all inclusive fashion extravaganza that is all about the LGBTQ+ community. The first fashion week of its kind in Los Angeles, there is a strong emphasis on “inclusion and diversity, especially for POC, transgender, gender nonbinary and gender nonconforming folx”. From the designers to the performers, all representing themselves unapologetically in this safe space that Kacy has created in partnership with the TransLatina Coalition. Breaking even more barriers in 2019, if you can make it to Los Angeles, you won’t want to miss this event.
