Our New Obsession: Orange Is The New Black

We’ve finally crawled out of our pillow fort where we have been obsessively watching and re-watching the latest Netflix-produced series, Orange Is The New Black.  If you don’t have Netflix and have been wondering if it’s worth it, trust us, this show alone is worth the £5.99 a month.

If you are old enough to remember Bad Girls or too young to have enjoyed a women’s prison show yet, OITNB is essential viewing with its variety of flawed, interesting and diverse characters.  Based on a true story, the show focuses on Piper Chapman, a ‘nice blonde lady’ who is busted for being involved in drug deals years before when she was living with her one-time girlfriend, Alex.

When Piper is sent down for just over a year, things get interesting when she finds Alex is at the same prison.  The ex-lovers must navigate the weird world of American incarceration including Christian extremists, guards on power trips and life at the bottom of the food chain.

Starring Taylor Schilling, Laura Prepon (That 70’s Show) and Natasha Lyonne (But I’m a Cheerleader).  Oh and for the sci-fi fans, it’s also got Kate Mulgrew – Captain freakin’ Janeway.  If that doesn’t spell good things, we don’t know what does.

A lot of the OITNB clips are NSFW so put your headphones in if you’re gonna indulge at work.
