The Best Lesbian Dating Memes: A Must-See Collection
  • If you’ve ever scrolled through your feed and paused to laugh at a meme about lesbian dating drama or shared a post about U-Hauls with your girl group chat, congrats- you’re officially part of the club.

Lesbian relationship memes are more than just funny pictures; they’re a whole vibe. From poking fun at the “let’s move in together after three dates” stereotype to the chaos of dating your ex’s ex’s ex, these jokes capture the quirks (and tragedies, honestly) of sapphic relationships like no other.

But why are they so popular? Honestly, it’s cultural. Lesbian relationship humor thrives because it’s built on a foundation of shared community and experiences and inside jokes. We like to feel like we’re part of a group, and humor can bring us all together.

Memes let us laugh at the funny (and sometimes awkward) realities of sapphic dating culture while building that weird sense of connection with each other. Plus, they remind us that even when love is messy, it’s still worth celebrating…. And that we are not alone in our feelings, whether they’re dramatic, unhinged, vulnerable, or “weird”.

After all, it’s absolutely part of the sapphic experience to screenshot Reddit posts and send them to your partner just saying “mood”. Or to send lesbian meme after meme after meme in your friends’ Instagram DMs, pebbling your hilarious sense of humor so they can find it once they’re finally off work. Or even to only respond to the queer group chat with GIFs of Kate McKinnon and The L Word.

Whatever your meme style, it connects us and refines our humor in the specific niche avenues that only memes can create. Let’s explore the breakdown of popular lesbian memes and why we love them.

    Lesbian U-haul Memes

Whether you went on a first date that should have lasted two hours but ended up lasting 72 hours, or you’re guilty of moving in with a partner way too fast, memes about U-Hauling and moving fast in lesbian relationships make for great memes.

Moving in quick seems to mystify straight folks. It’s often thought of as being “too soon”.

But what does “too soon” even mean? We like what we like, and when we feel that spark, well, what sapphics would blame us for locking it down?

There’s a reason that the U-Haul is like, the beacon symbol of the lesbian. We’re ready. Bring us that security and togetherness. We’re here to settle down and get that urge to merge.

There’s no right or wrong time to move in with your partner. But we can have a little fun poking fun at ourselves for our sapphic yearning and the desire to share a space with someone we love authentically.

Lesbians Not Making the First Move Memes

Sometimes, though, lesbian memes are on the opposite end of the spectrum. While it’s a sapphic stereotype to move in “too” fast, it’s also a stereotype that sapphics will miss meaningful lesbian connections just because, well, it’s hard to talk to girls. And not to mention, it can be terrifying!

The fear of rejection of course isn’t lesbian specific. But the queer community has the added challenge of not *actually* knowing if people are queer. Some folks are loud and proud and flag it to the world, but there are tons more sapphics who don’t scream “I like women!”. It can be really scary to try and strike up a date when you’re not sure if they’re a part of the sapphic community.

With queer IRL spaces disappearing, it can be really hard to connect with lesbians in real life. Gay bars are often catered to men, and sometimes you find yourself in an area where it can feel like there’s no other lesbians on the planet.

But even online or on dating apps, sometimes it can be really hard to take that plunge. We might not always have the courage to walk up to the hot masc at the bar or to swipe right on the cutie you saw at softball practice. But at least we can laugh together about how tricky it can be to find a lesbian relationship.

    Long Distance Relationship Memes

When it’s tough to find love, sometimes you need to expand to the world outside of your area code. There’s a stereotype that when we *do* finally connect with someone, we will cross any distance to be with them!

Well, I’m definitely guilty of this one. I went to a university on the East coast of the USA, while my partner was in the Midwest. Our date nights involved Skype calls, finding games we could play together online (Thanks Neopets!), and streaming movies together.

Oh you live thousands of miles away? In a different time zone? At the bottom of the ocean? In a volcanic crater? Say less, be there soon. #lesbiansoftiktok #lesbian #capcut #memes #lgbtq #lgbtqia #lgbt #lesbiancouplegoals #longdistancedating #lesbiansoftiktok🏳️‍🌈❤️🌈 #lesbian #fyp #foryoupage

There’s this bad vibe out there that long-distance relationships *never* work- but the sapphic community knows that they absolutely can. They’re a lot of hard work, and trust, and communication. But they can work, and they can absolutely be worth it.

Long-distance lesbian relationships are a running joke that of course isn’t true of every sapphic. Not everyone wants to bother with meeting long-distance! But I can’t help but feel like this one is a little hopeful. Somewhere out there (maybe on HER?) is your perfect match. And knowing that you’re both looking at the same stars is a little bit dreamy, and makes the gay world just a little bit smaller.

    Lesbian Ex Memes

Lesbians and their exes: name a more iconic duo. That small gay world I mentioned can sometimes seem a little too small.

It can feel like you have somehow dated every woman in your city. Lesbian nights at local bars are full of your exes. Or if not your exes, your ex’s exes. Or your partner’s exes.

And sometimes, your ex-girlfriend is still your best friend and you’re back to being gal pals. This is a whole new can of worms when introducing them into the lesbian web of exes, and it comes with a unique set of sapphic challenges when you’re trying to balance spilling the tea with your best friend but avoiding the awkward moments when you want to talk about the new girl that you’re interested in. (Here’s to hoping your new love isn’t her ex and you can avoid the lesbian love triangle!).

    Lesbian Pop Culture Memes

Part of what makes funny lesbian memes so relatable is the idea of a shared experience. I think most of us would agree that the sapphic community is desperate for more realistic lesbian representation in movies and TV shows. The great thing about the community is that when life doesn’t give us good lesbian visibility, we make it ourselves.

With the highly anticipated release of Wicked, the lesbian wicked memes exploded onto Tik-Tok and Instagram. Long time shippers of Glinda and Elphaba (we see you, #gelfie followers!) now have their time to shine. They’re the magical lesbian couple we crave.

Last summer’s blowaway hit Barbie also led to a huge uptick in lesbian relationship memes, covered in pink and largely playing off of another sapphic stereotype: that we all made our Barbies do very *unBarbie* things to each other when we were younger. I still question how doing this wasn’t a sign to me that I was queer.

Barbie and her friends also inspire the lesbian relationship trope of being “special friends”. The roommates who have lived together for years and travel the world together and neither one of them gets married.

Barbie probably shouldn’t be who we look to for lesbian dating advice (we can help with that), the girl power vibes and the instant brand recognition make it a rich blank canvas for all the sapphic humor you can bring.

Lesbian relationship memes aren’t just jokes—they’re a way to celebrate the love, quirks, and chaos that make sapphic connections so unique. Whether you’re laughing at the U-Haul stereotype or bonding over a good gay panic meme, they remind us that queer love is joyful, relatable, and always worth the hype.
