The girls at Dattch (now HER) sat down to talk about Valentine’s Day plans and how the perfect day would go. We quickly realized there is an unequivocal link between lesbians and sushi and that we’re all a bit romantic when we want to be (especially Yarin). Check out our V’Day ideals and start planning…
Robyn’s Perfect Valentine’s Day
Robyn Exton / CEO & Founder – Robyn likes to do everything in extremes. Running, eating, drinking, partying, working, slobbing, dancing, talking (cue The L Word theme song). It’s all or nothing with this one. So don’t expect her to mince her words or her opinions.
“Breakfast in bed is one of my favourite things so I’d want avocados on sourdough with a boiled egg and a big cup of sugary tea. We’d walk to a gallery, ideally the Tate Britain and head to somewhere fancy for a boozey lunch. Next up would be a mega pop concert, like Taylor Swift or One Direction, with shots and champagne, and an early taxi home!”
Kacie’s Perfect Valentine’s Day
Kacie Finance / Head of Marketing & Partnerships – Kacie is a rockstar in her own right. She sings in the shower, on the street, and in your ear. Otherwise she enjoys writing short paragraphs, eating Burmese food, and pleading for affection from her cat, Punski. She hopes her girlfriend is taking notes…
“The day would start out with a bit of cuddling, and then (surprise) a delivery from BloomThat. Once we’re up and fed, we’d take a romantic hike through Lover’s Lane to Lands End and enjoy a fog-studded sunset over Golden Gate. To finish things off, copious amounts of sashimi would be consumed, preferably off a boat.”
Yarin’s Perfect Valentine’s Day
Yarin Mera / Lead UX/UI Designer – If you can’t find Yarin she’s probably taking pictures of things that don’t move for her instagram account, or searching for random color palettes in nature. She’s a big fan of laughing really loud and completely obsessed with paleo- chocolate chip cookies.
“I’d wake up before her, make breakfast and bring it to her to bed. Then I’d give her an envelope with 5 photos of places we’ve been together + 5 reasons why they’re so special written on the back. We’d go to dinner at Yoshi’s and listen to an awesome jazz performance (perhaps, Esperanza Spalding) accompanied by some delicious sushi. Finally we’d check into our hotel room with a kick ass view, chocolate, and a king-sized bed.”
Barbara’s Perfect Valentine’s Day
Barbara Novaes / Head of Digital Marketing – Barbara likes taking naps and hates writing about herself.
“We’d start the morning by doing some sort of outdoor exercise – a walk in the woods, a bit of tennis or play some frisbee in the park. Then we’d head to a farmer’s market and cook a super brunch at home. Chill during the day. And dinner would involve eating enough sushi and drinking enough hot sake to pass out. Oh yeah, no alarm clock for the next day. Party hard.”
